@rockmeslowly79 The drive we installed in the video is indeed a Dual Layer (DL) burner.

The optical drive is used to read and or write data from CDs, DVD, Blu-Ray discs, etc. Commonly referred to as a CD drive, DVD drive, Blu-Ray drive, Combo drive, or SuperDrive.

I believe so, I have that same exact drive in my PC and that’s the one he used in the video, so most likely it can.

@OWCmacsales Hi thanks for the reply…
My pioneer drive which I would like to upgrade
is listed under ATA in system profiler. Its a
Dual 2.5 G5. Would mine also be IDE although
under ATA ? Thanks.

@rockmeslowly79 The stock optical drive that came in the 2004 PowerMac G5 machines did not have Dual Layer (DL) burning capabilities.
