How to turn the Nokia N95 into a desktop computer

They’re pretty similar phones, the N82 has a better flash and perhaps a slightly higher quality camera but there isn’t a huge difference between them.

  • Since when will n95 a rival to a desktop pc?

U could have said n95 is a rival of a media center to stay in the living room.

  • Menipä vastauksessa pitkään :D

If you want games on your N95, try installing the new N-Gage platform.

    Saunalahti? Suomalainen kenties?

Yeah, they have very similar specifications. The N82 has a better camera though, and a better camera flash.

The N95 smartphone includes a TV Out feature, which lets you use all of its functions through any television set with a composite or SCART connector. It’s also compatible with full-size wireless Bluetooth keyboards, so you can operate the phone’s functions without even touching it. Put these two things together, and in effect you have a desktop computer. This video shows how that works. 6. a just opinion…

the best smartphone of the history!!!!!!!!

i have a n82 its almost the same but it has a smaller screen.

      LOL? is this a joke?

for me not even a Core 2 Quad 9550 is enough, for me i only want intel core 2 extreme 2x ati hd 4870X2 4GB DDR3 2000mhz, so is n85 capable of even 0,00001% of this desktop??

      ps: haha noobs

Well, funny you should mention it, because in the article I wrote about this feature I said the two things it needed were a higher resolution and a pointing device (such as a mouse).

The weird thing is, you can actually get an application that turns S60 phones such as the N95 into Bluetooth mice for PCs. It works by using the phone’s camera as an optical sensor, which is just like an optical mouse.

    8. friken awesome!!!

…and? where is the BT mouse? :)

And how many people in the world do you think own a desktop PC?

Mobile phones sell over 1 billion units a year, which is far more than any other electronic device. For most people phones are the only computing device they have, so examples like the one in this video are going to become more and more common.

    10. Yeah, that’s what I said in the article that accompanies this video.

If they increased the output resolution to VGA and added mouse support (for example through Bluetooth) it would be a very strong rival to a home computer.

    11. The output resolution is already VGA if you’re watching videos or photos, so it is possible with TV Out.

      interesting, but pretty useless though

Not useless if you’re away from a desktop or laptop computer.

This can actually be something of a lifeline if you’re stuck in a hotel room or wherever and need to do some computing stuff.
