The Black MacBook Air
The Black MacBook Air’s display is far superior to the other machines in the MacBook family. It retains its color even in direct sunlight with crisp clear features. The display is brighter and clearer than any other model and has a wider viewing angle. A laptop with this crispness in display and ease of use make it a prime candidate for a free Black MacBook Air promotion. Its features make sure that plenty of consumers would desire owning one.
Other features that are different in this model in the MacBook family, include an irreplaceable battery and 2 GB of memory that can’t be upgraded. Its standard model comes with a 1.6 GHz processor with an 80 GB hard drive. The machine can be upgraded to a 1.8 GHz processor if desired.
While making a laptop thinner than any other, some sacrifices had to be made, causing a stir in the Mac community. The Black MacBook Air weighs only three pounds and is a mere 0.18 inches high at its narrowest point and three quarters of an inch high at its thickest point.
The trackpad provided on the Air is larger than previous models. It is also a bit more shallow, which might be difficult to adapt to for some users. It also has a Multi-touch feature, very much like the one on the iPhone. While using this feature, you can rotate images in the preview, zoom images as well as step forward or back in Finder or web pages. This feature is fascinating to watch and would be a nice feature to experience on a free Black MacBook Air.
A free Black MacBook Air would be an excellent prize in online giveaways. Even with its minor drawbacks, the machine’s performance would make entering a contest for one worthwhile. There are perks that accompany this machine as well, making it a great choice.
The Black MacBook Air is the latest model of Apple Inc.’s popular MacBook series. The original MacBook and its high end version MacBook Pro, have become Apple’s highest selling product in the company’s history. With the Black MacBook Air, the company decided to streamline the look of the laptop and make it one of the lightest machines produced.

One thing Apple has done in the Black MacBook Air models is retain its footprint size. While other laptop manufacturers will build a machine that is lighter and thinner, they often reduce the whole size of the machine. Apple has configured the Air model to the same dimensions as its other models, keeping a full sized display and keyboard. Like other MacBook models the Air’s keyboard is slight different from its predecessors’. The backlit keys are black on this model, and the light sensor adjusts both the brightness of the keyboard and the display to the surrounding environment.
The Black MacBook Air is a laptop that will appeal to many. And ultimately, a free Black MacBook Air will appeal to everyone.
The Air’s packaging is similar to the iPod’s. The machine rests on one tray, and the cables rest on another. Underneath the trays are the battery and accompanying disks. Its sleek body is appealing both to look at and touch. Once out of the box the Black MacBook Air opens with ease and with smoother sides and corners than its predecessors. Its curved design makes it easier to pick up as well. It manages its inner temperature well and never feels too warm.
The MacBook Air Superdrive is available for purchase as an alternative to using the Remote Disk function. Since Remote Disk doesn’t allow for playing DvDs and some video games, the Superdrive is a good investment for those who use their machines for entertainment. The drive, sleek just like the laptop, can read and write both CDs and DvDs. It plugs into the Air’s USB port, which is wired with extra power to run the drive. Unfortunately this makes the Superdrive incompatible with other MacBook models.
Athough the Black MacBook Air has its drawbacks, it has benefits as well that will appeal to a wide range of consumers. Having a clear display as well as a full-sized keyboard is an advantage that goes hand in hand with the lighter weight without having to give up size. Business travelers on the go will like the appeal of this machine, as it can also drive a video projector. Its ease of use along with its clear display and wedge profile make it a comfortable addition to any office or home.
The Black MacBook Air’s slower processor still manages well in its responses to system operations. Start up programs run a bit slower, but email and web browsing run as well as on previous models. Programs such as Word and Powerpoint are also able to run smoothly. Unfortunately, the machine’s hard drive is just not powerful enough to provide a fast running environment for more powerful programs. The hard drive’s speed is much lower than normal. Using the Air unplugged can be a problem too. Battery life usually runs around three to four hours, which can be affected by the Air’s attempts to process data and run back and forth between programs. As a result, running more intense programs can eat up battery life far more quickly than advertised, leaving you with a potential problem if there are no electrical outlets.
The lack of an optical drive is also a problem. Apple provides an external drive at an extra cost for installing programs or using the system restore disk. The company also offers a solution called “Remote Disk,” which works through a network and can load or install software from another machine. The lack of multiple USB ports is another drawback to the Black MacBook Air. In earlier machines parts were interchangeable, however because of the changes made in size, adapters for the Air can’t be used on earlier MacBook models.
What sacrifices were needed for these dimensions? The machine lacks enough USB ports for information transporting. It also lacks an optical drive necessary for installing other programs. The MacBook Air’s processor speed is slower than its predecessors. This has raised questions regarding the machine’s viability in the marketing world. However, the niche of ultra-light computers in the marketplace has a history of running significantly slower than the heavier machines.
