Apple Macbook Air – the Thinnovation | Apple iPad News
Design
Macbook’s looks are stunning, it’s only 0.76 inch thick at the thickest point, and is amazingly only 0.16 inch at the slimmest end. The show is 13.3 inch widescreen, with 1280 x 800 resolutions, but the sleek show panel is extremely cool with a gorgeous curves at all edges, and everything elegantly rolls towards maximum thickness. If one looks at the laptop from the front, it seems like no thicker than cardboard, and it’s only when one moves towards the side when the gradient is revealed, and the full thickness can be seen. The Macbook folds neatly, and despite slim design, everything closes neatly. The weight of only 3 pounds (1.5 kg) makes it handy for carrying round and ideal for those whose notebooks spend a lot of time off the desk. It’s painted in gorgeous blend of white and silver, with keyboard in black, and the well-known apple logo at the back of the show. The keyboard is full-size with crisp keys. But Macbook Air features key illumination, making it simple to work in low-light settings such as airplanes and conference halls. A built-in ambient light sensor automatically adjusts keyboard and show brightness for optimal visibility. And with the huge multi-touch track pad, it just keeps getting better for the fingers. Overall the looks are extremely elegant, stunning and sexy. It’s a gorgeous piece of art with a really eye catching design.
Conclusion
It is a highly innovative device, with so many features packed into so small space. Its portability and powerful battery makes it excellent for travelers.
Features
Despite its slim design, the Macbook air doesn’t lack in features and performance. It’s powered by 1.6 or 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4MB on-chip shared L2 cache. The chip was custom-built to fit within the compact dimensions of Macbook Air. And it comes with 2 GB RAM, 80 GB hard disk, and with an option to upgrade to 64 GB 64GB solid-state drive, which has no moving parts for enhanced durability. Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor with 144MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory gives adequate graphics performance but it’s not gamers’ machines, and the new-generation games suffer, but not everyone’s interested in games. 80GB of storage seems small for many users by today’s standard, but then there’s an optional 64GB solid-state drive and external USB Macbook Air SuperDrive available to enhance the storage capacity. There’s also one USB 2.0 port. SO, overall the performance is at par with the mid-high spec laptops, and is ideal for nearly every task, and can cope with nearly every application without suffering. The backlight LED show allows for an even thinner build. It provides instant full-screen brightness the moment Macbook Air is opened. The show is mercury- and arsenic-free and hence more power efficient, which translates to longer battery life! Macbook Air also includes a built-in iSight camera. The iSight camera and iChat software make video chatting simple anywhere there is a wireless network. The Macbook Air battery is extremely thin, yet it doesn’t lack in power, and allows wireless web access for five hours!
